Preschool

Bold, bright beginnings in a beautiful setting

PAWS preschool

Every day is an adventure

At preschool, every day brings something new. Breakfast club is over, our little ones throw off their coats, and preschool comes alive.

Our days are made up of play, play and play.  A fun and caring setting allows children to feel they are somewhere they are meant to be – free to make choices, make mistakes, share discoveries and build friendships…

We are ready to work to the interests and learning goals of every child, whatever that means, and we are open to learning ourselves. All children can show us a new way to listen and to teach.

And to make sure all this growing and reaching for goals is captured forever, we will update a Tapestry account for your child on a regular basis. Capturing all the mud and mess, and making memories forever, Tapestry gives you up to date information on your child’s learning and their progress so far.

Our high staff to child ratios give us an enviable chance to spend 1:1 time with your child. We spend lots of time in small groups and can give each child personal attention and opportunities that really drive development. Our high ratios are safe and help us build great relationships.

Our breaks are a chance to get together and talk and share. While some children bring in a packed lunch they also have the option of a school dinner delivered from Whalton primary school to the PAWS building. We also provide healthy snacks throughout the day. Our little ones also love the chance to try out occasional school dinners in the big school which is a great way to prepare them for moving up to reception. We want to foster a healthy relationship with food and the confidence to try new things. They might even turn their hand to some cooking themselves.

And they will learn where their food comes from while they explore our green spaces. We have a natural inclination at PAWS to learn from and protect our environment and we believe with fresh air come fresh ideas.

Talk to us about where we meet and how we spend our time. We are lucky enough to have plenty of opportunities to get some colour into our cheeks.

We do have an optional uniform, with some parents choosing our polo shirts, cardigans and hoodies to make getting dressed that little bit less complicated.

Finally, before any child comes to PAWS we want to know all about them. Please talk to us and tell us all about their likes, dislikes, what they need and what you hope for.

Then we can get on with the serious business of playing.
